How can e-Buddies help my Best Buddies Chapter?

e-Buddies can enhance your chapter by allowing more people to get involved. Buddies who cannot be matched right away with an in-person Best Buddy can benefit from a one-to-one friendship through e-Buddies. Peer Buddies or College Buddies who aren't matched with Buddies can still be involved with the chapter by helping Buddies learn to use e-mail. e-Buddies is a way for the people with intellectual disabilities to learn computer skills, gain another method of communication, and make new friends.

Here's what you can do to help: Teach your Best Buddy to use e-mail, and help them sign up for e-Buddies. Plan activities for your chapter that center around computers and e-mail. Here are some suggestions: Have an outing at a computer lab or local library that has computer access. Coordinate with another Best Buddies chapter to have computer-related activities at the same time, so members can e-mail and instant message each other. Visit an Internet Café in your area. Create an internet scavenger hunt Encourage other chapter members to teach their Best Buddies to use e-mail.
