Thank you for being a member of e-Buddies!
For children and adults who have an intellectual disability, e-Buddies often serves as the entrée to the Internet. We hear over and over from special education teachers, parents, and agency staff that having a friend send e-mails motivates their students, children, and consumers to want to use the computer, as well as enhance their written communication skills.
Those of us who work for Best Buddies feel privileged to offer e-Buddies as a means to have and be a friend, as well as develop computer skills. One way we work to introduce the Internet to adults with intellectual disabilities is through our e-Buddies Training Corps, or ETC. This seven-week summer program places college student interns at agencies to work one-to-one teaching computer skills to adults. Interested? Contact LisaDerx@bestbuddies.org for more information.
Hope May brings you your favorite flowers.
