As I write, the famous cherry blossom trees that ring the tidal basin here in Washington, D.C. are just about to burst into bloom. The original trees were a gift from Japan to the United States in 1912. Their delicate and gorgeous profusion serves as a reminder of the enduring power of an act of friendship.
When I look at the cherry trees each day, they will be a reminder to me of the many thousands of wonderful volunteers we have. This month, which is National Volunteer Recognition Month, those of us at Best Buddies give special thanks to every one of our volunteers. It is you who make our mission succeed.
All the best,
