Ralph Waldo Emerson, that most famously American writer, said, “The only way to have a friend is to be one.”
Independence Day is a fitting moment to consider those words. They remind me that, here in the United States, each of us is free to have and be a friend. We have the liberty to decide whether to offer or withhold our friendship. For people with an intellectual disability, that choice can literally be lifesaving.
Thanks to each of you for offering the gift of friendship to your e-Buddy.
Hope your Fourth of July sparkles!
All the best,
