On September 8th, 2007, Best Buddies International will hold the Audi Best Buddies Challenge—Hearst Castle. This event is a premier cycling ride from Carmel to the renowned Hearst Castle in San Simeon.

The Challenge will feature magnificent views of the California coastline, the active participation of special athletes alongside hundreds of cyclists, high-profile personalities and the famous Hearst Castle and Ranch for the post-ride private concert party and barbeque.

The 100-mile ride begins at the Chateau Julien Winery in Carmel with a festive sendoff led by California First Lady Maria Shriver. The 62-mile begins at the Big Sur Ranger Station in Big Sur along the Pacific Coast Highway while the 15-mile begins 15 miles south of the Hearst Castle.

After finishing at the historic Hearst Ranch every rider will enjoy food, drinks, hot showers and professional massages on a stretch of the Ranch that sits right along the Pacific. Relax and refuel seaside before heading up toward the castle for the Friendship Races.

The Friendship Races are short criterium style events that pair participants with intellectual disabilities with celebrity and special guests. It's at the races that you see the spirit of Best Buddies programs in action as "Buddy pairs" hit the course for laps of fun and friendly, spirited competition.

All of the money raised will support Best Buddies in their efforts to enhance the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and employment.

100% of money raised by e-Buddies participants will fund e-Buddies! On your registration form, be sure to say that you were referred by "Lisa Derx," and that you found out about the Audi Best Buddies Challenge—Hearst Castle from "e-Buddies E-mail."
