Ask Emerson

Dear Emerson,

My e-Buddy keeps talking about wanting to call me, and has asked for my phone number. What should I do?

Signed,
Worried in Wisconsin

-------------------------

Dear Worried,

As you know, e-Buddies are not allowed to contact each other via phone or meet in person, unless prearranged by a member of the e-Buddies staff.

Your best bet would be to remind your e-Buddy of these rules. Be firm when you tell him that you are only an e-mail friend. Suggest he review the code of conduct on the e-Buddies web site, which is found at http://www.ebuddies.org/conduct.html.

If your e-Buddy still insists on asking for your phone number, let a member of the e-Buddies staff know by e-mailing ebuddiescomments@bestbuddies.org.

Good luck!

Signing off,
Emerson
