Dear Friends,

I like Valentine's Day. On Valentine's Day, it is okay - even encouraged - to tell someone you love them. You can do it with words silly or sweet, or pictures romantic or mundane. Hearing that someone else loves us is something we all crave. Those three words mean other things, too, such as: You are important to me. You enrich my life. I care about you.

Too many people don't have that experience of being loved by anyone, least of all a friend. That is why Best Buddies is essential - it gives all of us, including those with intellectual disabilities, the gifts of love and friendship and laughter.

This Valentine's Day, admidst economic worries and wars, please take time to share your friendship with your Best Buddy. I promise your heart will lift.

All the best,
Lisa Derx
Vice President
