Dear Friends,
So many people I know are feeling frightened these days - nervous about the economy, worried the situation will worsen, or struggling to cope with financial reversals. The headlines in the newspaper are grim, and, often, disappointing or even infuriating.
When I find myself feeling caught up in this unproductive cycle, I think of Best Buddies. Remembering how much change Best Buddies has engendered - changing people's attitudes about the abilities of people with intellectual disabilities; connecting people's lives one to another; building more inclusive communities - I become optimistic all over again.
I hope in these trying times, your participation in Best Buddies encourages you and heartens you to remember that, so long as we have the important things in life - friendship and hope and love - the rest will follow.
All the best,
Lisa Derx
Vice President
