Assistive Technology Resources

For most people, using a computer is second nature. We use them every day, and we take for granted that we can easily use a keyboard or mouse, or that we can easily read the text on the screen.

For many people with disabilities, however, these fairly simple tasks can present a significant challenge to using the computer. Thankfully, there is a large market for assistive technology products that are designed to help users overcome these challenges.

Assistive technology can come in many shapes and sizes. For some users, the best solution to address an area of need might involve a piece of adaptive hardware, such as a screen magnifier, adaptive keyboard, or an alternative input device that replaces a standard mouse. For others, a simple software application, such as a screen reader or mouse emulator, can suffice.
