Ask Emerson

Dear Emerson,

I am going to taking an extended vacation over the holidays. I might not have regular access to e-mail for a month or so. I told my e-Buddy that I won't be able to e-mail for a few weeks, but is there anything else that I need to do?

Signed,
Jetsetter in Jacksonville

-------------------------

Dear Jetsetter,

Thank you for letting your e-Buddy know you won't have e-mail access. This is the first step you should always take when you are going to be away from e-mail access for more than a week or two.

Your next step should be to let the e-Buddies team know as well! You can do so by logging into the e-Buddies Community. Once you've logged in, you can suspend your match on the "View Status" page.

Doing this will turn off the automated e-mail reminders that you normally receive when you haven't e-mailed your e-Buddy in several weeks. This will also ensure that your match is not ended because you haven't been writing to your e-Buddy regularly.

Enjoy your vacation!

Signing off,
Emerson
