Update from the Field

Each month we will be sharing news from our various Best Buddies State Offices. This will be a great way for our participants to learn about what is happening with Best Buddies throughout the United States. We hope that you enjoy this new feature of the e-Beat!

This update comes from:

Best Buddies Kentucky

This BBI State Update comes to you from Kentucky. Best Buddies is excited to open its first KY office in Louisville!

The Mayor of Louisville is pretty excited, too. Mayor Jerry Abramson has declared March 9, 2010 Best Buddies Day in celebration of opening a state office in Kentucky. Best Buddies KY is hosting a party at a local restaurant and this restaurant plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to Best Buddies.

State Director Tammy Moloy says she is excited to bring this wonderful charity to Louisville. "We are all about improving the quality of life of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through one-to-one friendships and an integrated jobs program. Kentucky has more than 23,000 students with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as Down syndrome and autism enrolled in its public schools alone, and we can make a big difference in the lives of those students and their peers."

How wonderful to be able to bring the Best Buddies mission to yet another state. Welcome, Kentucky!
