Ask Emerson

Dear Emerson,

I typically wait for my e-Buddy to respond before I send him another e-mail. Sometimes this might take a few weeks. I have noticed that when that happens, I receive a reminder e-mail from e-Buddies. Why does that happen if I am still waiting for my e-Buddy to respond? Is it okay for me to wait for my e-Buddy to respond or do you want me to write an e-mail every week?

Sincerely,
Wondering in Washington

-------------------------

Dear Wondering,

Thank you for asking a question on the mind of many of our e-Buddies members!

The e-Buddies commitment is for participants to e-mail each other once per week for at least one year. We know that sometimes life prevents that from happening, but we do encourage our members to do everything possible to send a brief e-mail each week.

To help ensure that this commitment is met our e-mail system sends out automated e-mail reminders when a participant has not sent an e-mail for two weeks. If another week passes without an e-mail being, sent a second automated reminder is delivered to the participant. Please take these automated e-mails as simply a friendly reminder to reach out to your e-Buddy and say hello!

Thank you again for participating in our program! We hope that you continue to enjoy your e-Buddies friendship!

Signing off,
Emerson
