Best Buddies Spotlight
By Ginney Robertson

With the winter holidays fast approaching, many of us are becoming busier than usual. Planning and preparing for these festive times can eat up much of our time. In the midst of all these preparations, many of our Best Buddies have found the time to do something with their buddies.

In Massachusetts, several Best Buddies high school chapters have special events planned. Algonquin Regional High School has planned a "Mall Crawl" in which buddy pairs go shopping for holiday gifts. They will also be having a holiday party in a few weeks, with one of the main events being a Yankee Swap. This is similar to a "Secret Santa" gift exchange. Sommerville High School was able to obtain passes to a production of the Nutcracker for the buddy pairs in their chapter. Everyone will enjoy a night filled with music and dance.

On the other side of the country, Best Buddies in California have a big event planned to start their holiday celebrations off right. Knott's Berry FarmÔ has worked with the students at Lynwood High School to put on a Sadie Hawkins Dance in early December. A special part of the park will be open only to members of Best Buddies. With many things to do - such as dancing to a live DJ, riding several rides, and having plenty to eat and drink - everyone is assured a good time.

These simple events and similar ones like them all across the country are sure to make every Best Buddy's holiday a happier one. Warm Wishes and Happy Holidays!
