All of your e-Buddies questions answered here!

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "The only way to have a friend is to be one." In the spirit of those inspiring words, Ask Emerson is a feature designed to help you be the best friend you can be. Each month, we will select a question or two for response. Send your questions to eBuddiesComments@bestbuddies.org.

Dear e-Buddies:

Last month we had a question from an e-Buddies participant whose Buddy only wrote a few sentences in her e-mail messages. Here is a response sent to me by another e-Buddy that also addresses this issue. Thanks to Crystal Ehlinger from Pennsylvania for this contribution to Ask Emerson.

Signed,

Emerson

Dear Emerson,

In response to the person who is frustrated over her buddy only writing one or two lines...

I exchanged e-mail addresses with an athlete I met at the state Special Olympics, he's a really sweet guy.

But the only way he communicates is through greeting cards...poems, songs and pictures created by other people. At first I was frustrated, but then I realized that not everyone has the gift of gab or grammar. Maybe he isn't comfortable expressing himself any other way.

All I know is, the poems and songs brighten my day and make me smile or laugh. Now I send him e-cards as well, knowing that that is how he wants to communicate.

So...try an e-card with a special song, maybe that will help your e-buddy open up.

Signed,
Crystal
