Our Privacy Policy

Best Buddies International, Inc. is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. Best Buddies International, Inc. collects information from our users at several different points on our website. We use our best efforts to respect and protect the privacy of our online visitors. We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track users' movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. We share aggregated demographic information with our partners and supporters. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.

We only gather personally identifiable data (such as names, addresses, zip/postal codes, e-mail addresses, etc.) that are voluntarily submitted by a visitor, and we only use such data for such purposes as facilitating online donations, processing orders, or returning information requested in our Guest Books. Such data, including email addresses, may be shared with our local Best Buddies offices for the above named purposes. Web site visitor information is used for internal purposes only and will not be sold to third parties. E-mail addresses of visitors and donors are never sold or exchanged.

We require parent/guardian permission for children under 18. We request the following information to form an e-Buddies match: full name, address, age, social security number, student status, employment information, criminal history, favorite hobbies and activities, and contact information for three references which the e-Buddies staff contacts to ask similar questions.

If you supply us with your postal address on-line, you may receive periodic mailings from us with information on upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, requests for financial support, or new products or services. If you do not wish to receive such mailings, please let us know by contacting us using the address or phone number provided above, or email us at eBuddiesComments@bestbuddies.org. Postal addresses of visitors and donors are never sold or exchanged.

We care about the safety of your credit card transaction and secure server technology is used throughout the online donation process. As a result, it is extremely difficult for anyone to intercept the credit card information you send to us. While on a secure page, such as our donation form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just surfing. Contributions may also be made by calling 1-800-89-BUDDY. Or, if you'd prefer, mail us your contribution by printing the online donation form and mailing it to us at the address provided on the form.

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. All employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices.
